Sauté and Save 2014
In Fall 2014, the Partnership hosted their first “Sauté and Save” educational series. The event is a free, four-part workshop series, which included healthy food demonstrations and information on home budgeting, couponing, gardening, and proper nutrition.
Hunger Summit 2014
On April 15, 2014, the Partnership sponsored a “Hunger Summit” at the PA National Guard Readiness Center in Waynesburg.
Community members, churches, businesses, organizations and agencies combine their talents, efforts and resources to work toward the goal that no individual or family in Greene County is food insecure. Displays by agencies informed participants of available help and how to access it. Participants joined together to identify obstacles facing Greene County residents and how their needs can be addressed.
The Greene County Food Partnership wishes to express its appreciation to each of the individuals, businesses, churches, civic organizations and agencies for their efforts to help those individuals who are food insecure in Greene County!
Empty Bowls Fundraiser for the Weekend Food Program
On April 6, 2014, the Waynesburg University Bonner Scholars presented the Empty Bowls Greene County to raise money for the Weekend Food Program. Greene County neighbors joined together for a luncheon and fundraiser to help fight hunger. Attendees received a hand-crafted ceramic bowls made by Waynesburg University students and the local ArtBeat along with lunch.
The meal included hearty soups made by Dan Wagner, Greene County Career and Technology Centers’ Culinary Arts Instructor, and delicious breads donated by Rising Creek Bakery. Local artisans donated beautifully hand-crafted items for a silent auction.
