Hunger Summit

March 5, 2018

SAVE  THE DATE!    Governor Wolf’s food security plan, A Blueprint for  a Hunger-Free PA, will be the focus of this year’s summit at Waynesburg University.  The Blueprint’s goals are aimed at reducing the number of Pennsylvanians, estimated at approximately 1.7 million people, who are food insecure.  Heather Hallman from the Governor’s office will be the keynote speaker.   Join us to learn how Greene County is implementing the plan and to discuss how you can become involved.  The ultimate goal is to ensure all individuals and families in our county are food secure.

Help make sure that no one in our community goes hungry!

Greene County Empty Bowls

The Waynesburg University Bonner Scholars have presented the Greene County Empty Bowls event for the past four years.  All proceeds benefit the Greene County Weekend Food Program.

Each attendee receives unlimited soup and bread, and a handmade ceramic bowl to take home. (Children 12 and under eat free but do not receive a ceramic bowl.)

Tickets can be purchased in advance by check or cash.  Donations can also be made after the event if you can’t attend the event.

All checks should be made out to: “Community Foundation of Greene County” and note “Empty Bowl Tickets” on the memo line if you’re attending the event or “Empty Bowls Donation” if you can’t attend the event.

Last year Empty Bowls Greene County raised over $6000 for the Weekend Food Program.
The five school districts need about $25,000 annually to serve about 140 children!  Your support helps ensure funds are available to continue the program each year.
